Endemic Plant Species
You can admire a bunch of unique plant species, found nowhere else in the world. Triglav Hawksbeard (Crepis terglouensis), Julian Poppy (Papaver alpinum subsp. ernesti-mayeri) and Silver-leaved Cranesbill (Geranium argentum) to name just a few of them. On your hiking trips you will also meet some of the most beautiful mountain flowers like edelweisses, bellflowers, orchids and gentians.
Wildlife
The Bohinj area provides home for a wide range of animals, adapted to survive in difficult living conditions. You can see the chamois, ibex, red deer, brown bear, lynx, different reptiles, mouflon, mountain hare, fox and the endemic Marble trout. Special chapter are birds with 84 different species living in the Triglav National Park. Golden eagles, capercaillie, black grouses and griffon vultures are just a few of them.
